David Rice

David Alan Rice, 75, of Bellingham, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sept. 19. Born in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Ruth (Ingalls) and Clyde Rice.

David was a 1963 graduate of Bellingham High School. He then went on to earn an associate degree from Dean College in Franklin. Before his retirement, he was an employee at Newport/Thermo Gerolach in Franklin, where he once was Employee of the Month. He taught Sunday school with his brother-in-law, Greg, and was involved with recording Tape Ministry as well as being a Sunday school coordinator. For a brief time, he was a bass player for the singing group “New Song” as well as a member of his mother’s church choir. He also held a few other voluntary jobs at Faith Community Church in Hopkinton. He was a big movie buff who loved playing video games and loved the band Queen. He was an excellent chess player. Most importantly, he loved his nieces and nephews.

David is survived by his brother-in-law, Gregory Titus of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, his nephews and nieces, Eric Titus of Bellingham, Andrew Titus and wife Katie of Smithfield, Rhode Island, Cherie Svannson and husband Jeffrey of Woonsocket, and Holly Titus of Woonsocket; and his grandnieces, Anne-Marie, Claire, Cecilia and Felicity Dancause. He is predeceased by his sister, Janet E. Titus, who passed away on Sept. 6.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Community Church, 146 East Main St., Hopkinton, MA 01748.
