Discolored water possible after water main break on Wood Street

by | Mar 12, 2023 | Featured: News,

Water and Sewer Manager Eric Carty announced Saturday night that there was a water main break on Wood Street in the area of Elm Street. There was no water service from Elm Street to Patriots Boulevard.

Crews finished making repairs to the main early Sunday morning and water was restored. However, due to the size and location of the break, it could take several days for the pockets of discoloration to fully work their way out of the system.

“As pumps turn off and on, the reversal of flows will move [the discolored water] back and forth,” Carty shared. “Your water could be clear and then become discolored again as the pocket moves by. Please check your water before running laundry, dishwashers and other appliances.”
