Dorenda Rice, 99

Dorenda S. Rice, 99, passed peacefully away Jan. 2 after a period of declining health.

Born May 24, 1922, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, daughter of David and Leah (Larter) Stewart, she lived most of her life in Woodville, graduating from Hopkinton High School in June of 1940.  Her husband of 62 years, Alden Rice, passed away in 2003. She also was predeceased by sons Howard and Joel Rice.

She leaves her daughter, Ethel Temple of Westborough, and daughter-in-law, Martha Pratt-Rice of Warwick, as well as five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed reading, puzzle books, knitting and crocheting.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 1 p.m. in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Woodville. A calling hour will precede the service from noon-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hopkinton Food Bank, P.O. Box 36, Hopkinton, MA 01748.
