Dorothy Eleanor Thomas, 98, of Hopkinton passed away July 23, 2026, at the age of 98. Dorothy was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Indianapolis and lived there most of her life, relocating to Massachusetts in 2019 to be near family. Dorothy was the sixth and youngest child of Charles Earl and Eleanor Cecelia (Ward) Higgs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas N. Thomas; and her siblings, Richard Higgs, Rosemary Biemer, Edward Higgs, Robert Higgs and Kathleen White.

Dorothy is survived by her sons from a prior marriage, John (Dicie) Niggl of Upton and Dennis (Barbara) Niggl of Irvine, California; grandchildren,Steven Niggl, Ashley (Henrique) Aguiar, Brian Niggl, John Niggl, Lauren Niggl, Joshua Niggl and Valerie Niggl; and the light of her life, her great-grandson Leonardo Aguiar. Dorothy also is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families whom she held dear.

Dorothy was employed as a legal secretary, most recently by the law firm Bose, McKinney and Evans of Indianapolis for 25 years, retiring in 1995. Dorothy enjoyed time with family, reading, Rummikub, bingo, theater and traveling. She was a volunteer with OASIS for many years and a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Indianapolis.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the charity or food pantry of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of McNally & Watson Funeral Home in Clinton. Online condolences may be placed at mcnallywatson.com.
