Flu vaccine documentation missing for large number of students as deadline approaches

by | Dec 19, 2020 | Education

Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh emailed the schools community Sunday with a reminder that all students must show proof of vaccination for influenza immunization by Dec. 31. Only those with a medical or religious exemption are excused.

Wrote Cavanaugh: “This vaccine requirement is an important step to reduce flu-related illness and the overall impact of respiratory illness during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

While many families already have sent in proof of the flu vaccine to their child’s school nurse, there remained a large number of students for whom the information had not been submitted as the schools closed in on the start of winter break Thursday.

At Marathon School documentation was missing for 104 students. At Elmwood the number is 93 students, Hopkins 71, the middle school 156 and the high school 257.
