Fruit Street bridge work scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday; Winter Street closed Wednesday

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced that there will be work on the Fruit Street bridge over Interstate 495 in Hopkinton this Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 7-8.

Utility crews will perform daytime electrical relocation work on the bridge as part of the I-495/I-90 Interchange Improvements Project. Relocation work is scheduled to occur each day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fruit Street in Hopkinton will be open only to local traffic between North Street and Saddle Hill Road while detours are in place. During this time, there will be signs indicating detour routes.

Drivers traveling through the affected areas are advised to expect delays, reduce speed and use caution.

All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.

Additionally, the Hopkinton Department of Public Works announced that Winter Street will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, Aug. 8, to remove some hazardous trees. Drivers should be prepared to detour.
