Quarterback Cole Salyards scrambled into the end zone from 8 yards out with 11 seconds remaining to give the Hopkinton High School football team a 42-36 victory over visiting Medfield on Saturday afternoon.

Medfield had taken a 36-35 lead on a 50-yard touchdown pass and two-point conversion with 1:39 left.

Salyards ran it in on third-and-goal from the 13 with 3:48 left for a 35-28 lead.

Cam Mulvaney ran for three touchdowns, his third coming early in the second half to tie the score at 21. Medfield ran back the ensuing kickoff for a 28-21 lead. Salyards then passed to Nick Lecesse to even things at 28.

In a high-scoring first quarter, Mulvaney had two short rushing TDs, sandwiched by long TD passes (65 and 79 yards) by Medfield, and the teams were tied at 14. The visitors added a 10-yard rushing TD in the second quarter for a 21-14 halftime lead.
