Hopkinton High School principal Evan Bishop emailed the HHS community Sunday afternoon to announce that a student had died, and to make students and staff aware there will be in-person grief counseling Monday.
“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the death of one of our high school students,” Bishop wrote. “Out of respect for the family, we are not releasing the student’s name.
“We have convened our Crisis Response Team this afternoon to put supports in place for students and staff. The loss of a student has a ripple effect on the school community; therefore, we will be providing counseling services. Every effort will be made to support our community as we deal with the grief and loss resulting from this tragedy.”
Counseling will be offered at the school Monday from 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.
Support for families and community members also is available through Hopkinton Youth & Family Services.
