Three Hopkinton High School students, led by multiple award-winner Emma McNamara, received state-level recognition in the 2019 Scholastic Writing Awards last month.

McNamara, a senior, won a gold key and silver medal in the critical essay category for her work titled, “Refutation of Misinformation on Autism Spread.”

McNamara also won a silver key in the dramatic script category for “Guilt, Grief, Girl (A One-Act Play Told by Anxiety)” and honorable mention in the poetry category for two works, “Dreamlog Disarray” and “Call Me Addie.”

Senior Emma Beale won a silver key in the critical essay category for her piece, “Masculinity and Femininity.”

Freshman Kevin Gu received honorable mention in the short story category for his work, “It Storms.”

The gold and silver key winners were recognized in a ceremony at Tufts University on March 16.
