Garden Club award

The Hopkinton Garden Club recently received recognition from the state organization.

The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts awarded the Hopkinton Garden Club, a member club, the 2020 Continuing Civic Projects Award, Medium Club, for continual maintenance of one or more civic projects. The federation recognizes the club’s accomplishments in ongoing Hopkinton beautification efforts at the “Welcome to Hopkinton” sign, Town Common trough, George V. Brown statue, Doughboy Memorial statue, downtown intersection at Main Street and Grove Street, Hayden Rowe and Grove Street traffic island, Iris and Violet Garden, Main Street Cemetery border, and the Hopkinton Library planters, as well as the 14 planters along Main Street.

The Hopkinton Garden Club credited local business supporters for their generous financial support, the Hopkinton Department of Public Works for assistance with the club’s beautification efforts, and member volunteers who plan, plant and maintain the sites.

The Hopkinton Garden Club is a nonprofit organization whose mission in the local community is education, beautification and conservation. The club was organized in 1924 and is an affiliate of The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. is dedicated to assisting member clubs with education and appreciation of horticulture, landscape and floral design, gardening and environmental concerns.
