Dates set for continued mosquito spraying in town
The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project will return to Hopkinton next month for continued mosquito spraying.
Officials from the CMMCP will continue their spraying program in Hopkinton on Tuesday. According to a notice sent to the town, the scheduled dates for all spray application dates are: July 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30. All scheduled dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.
This is the second month of spraying in town. According to the notice, this year’s program will continue until “cool night time temperature become predominant in the area.”
Throughout the summer, the CMMCP will focus on target areas in town where mosquitos are likely to breed. The Health Department has noted in the past that it looks at stagnant water bodies, wetlands and retention/detention ponds. The town also will coordinate treatments before large municipal events as necessary.
Residents have the option to request service or opt out of spraying. Requests for service may be recorded by calling the CMMCP office at 508-393-3055 between 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or going to cmmcp.org.
Residents can opt out of spraying by visiting the CMMCP website and clicking the “no spray info” button.
