Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Bestselling author Paul Clerici will take attendees “mile by mile, town by town, story by story” in his talk about the Boston Marathon at the Hopkinton Public Library on April 14.

Relying on his previous three books on the Boston Marathon, work as a journalist and his own experience running the race 23 times, Clerici says he will provide an “entertaining jaunt through the course.”

“Between running it and covering it, there’s so many stories,” Clerici said.

There is no shortage of stories Clerici can dive into, either. Some he mentions may appear in his talk include the Scream Tunnel at Wellesley College, the year a train cut through the course and the story of Ellison “Tarzan” Brown, whose feats in the marathon led to the naming of Heartbreak Hill.

“I want to include stories that everybody knows and likes to hear, as well as some new stuff,” Clerici explained. He also noted that he plans to dig deeper on some lesser known stories, and discuss the fine line between the tall tales and the historical facts.

“I do try to tell a little bit of tall tales and anecdotes,” he said, “but let you know which ones have a little bit of extra padding.”

The talk will feature a multimedia presentation with images from the Boston Athletic Association and other sources, along with a Q&A session at the end.

Added Clerici: “It’s not just about the race — it’s a little bit of everything.”

More information about the talk can be found on the HPL website. Registration is required.
