Hopkinton Today for Monday, Nov. 11: Hopkinton honors its veterans

by | Nov 11, 2024 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Hopkinton honors veterans with ceremony, appreciation dinner

At 11 a.m. at the Hopkinton Senior Center, veterans and residents alike will gather to commemorate Veterans Day.

Members of the public are invited to gather with veterans and take part in the services. This year’s guest speaker is Rev. Richard Cannon from St. John the Evangelist church in Hopkinton.

American Legion member and Marine Corps veteran Mike Whalen will offer some words as well, focusing on veterans the town has lost in the last year.

“I’ll say a little about each veteran,” Whalen said, “talk about their life and things they did, where they served, what branch of service [and so on].”

Tonight is the annual Hopkinton Veterans Appreciation Dinner at the Woodville Rod and Gun Club. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and any veteran with Hopkinton connections is invited along with family members.

The dinner is put on by the Veterans Celebration Committee.
