Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Students with Hopkinton High School’s Health Occupations Students of America group will host a TEDx event at the school this Friday.

“This year, we’re focusing on youth and wellness,” said Sahasra Chakram, one of the event’s organizers. She and fellow HOSA member Tejasiwni Pitchuka set up a TEDx event in Hopkinton last year that focused on neuroscience.

Chakram said that the majority of this year’s speakers are students from HHS and other area high schools. She noted that one of the talks is from a lifestyle influencer who will focus on consistency in life, based off finance.

“We have another talk about sleep disorders and how your sleep impacts your cognitive function,” Chakram added.

Chakram says the event’s goal is to generate and support community. “It is designed to inspire conversation, creativity and connection within the Hopkinton community,” she stated in an email.

Due to TED-Ed guidelines, seating for the event is restricted to the first 100 guests. Those interested in attending must register using the event’s Google Form signup. Talks will be available to stream on the TEDx YouTube channel after the event has concluded.
