The Hopkinton Public Library is launching a summer reading program later this month that includes residents of all ages.

Adopting a nationwide library theme of “Level Up At Your Library,” the HPL is using the program to encourage both adults and children to read recreationally.

“We’re excited for the community to join us in leveling up our reading by keeping track of what days we read, plus by doing fun reading-related activities,” said Dan Boudreau, adult services librarian at HPL.

The program officially kicks off June 23 and will run until Aug. 17, with registration beginning June 16. Readers will use paper logs to track their reading, so residents will need to register in person at the library. Each reading log will have different challenges for registrants to complete throughout the program.

Those who participate must read at least four days a week, reading anything from novels and audiobooks to magazines and graphic novels. Each week completed earns participants a raffle ticket, and readers can complete additional various activities to earn more tickets.

“Prize drawing tickets can be earned by reading frequently and by completing challenges,” Boudreau said. “There will be lots of great prizes to win.”

Children also can earn free books by completing some of the related activities.

Registration begins in-person at the HPL on June 16. The last day to claim tickets is Aug. 29, and winners will be drawn Sept. 2. More information can be found on the HPL’s online calendar. Those with additional questions can call the library at 508-497-9777.
