Hopkinton Today for Wednesday, Nov. 27: Football alumni sought for 100th Thanksgiving game

by | Nov 27, 2024 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Hopkinton/Ashland football alumni invited to 100th game

When the Hopkinton High School football team welcomes Ashland to town tomorrow morning, it will mark the 100th game in their annual rivalry.

At halftime, players and cheerleaders from either school who participated in previous Thanksgiving games are invited onto the field for recognition and a group photo.

As for the game, Hopkinton hasn’t had the best of seasons, but coach Mark Sanborn said his team is focused on getting a win in the finale. Hopkinton has the edge in the series with 54 wins, but Ashland won last year’s game.

“We told them to forget the records, put the injuries aside, it’s one game and two towns that know each other really well,” Sanborn said.
