Hopkinton Today: Friday, March 29

by | Mar 29, 2024 | Featured: Features,

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Two old billboards on the former Connelly Farms property, on Hayden Rowe Street just north of College Street, will be removed early Saturday morning, signaling “the end of an era,” according to an advocate for their stay.

Former Hopkinton Police Department Deputy John “Jay” Porter appeared Thursday afternoon in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn for a 10-minute status conference review hearing. But because the judge who previously presided over the case was not returning to court until the following week, both attorneys agreed to reschedule the review to May 13 at 2 p.m. because of his familiarity with the case.

On Wednesday, a public forum about the new elementary school was held to meet state requirements for the Massachusetts Environmental Protection Act office.

This week’s Baypath Adoptable Animal is Pumpkin, a 1-year-old who “is here to sprinkle a little sunshine on your daily walks.”

The Hopkinton Marathon Committee is sponsoring a free 100-yard dash for children ages 5-12 on Saturday, April 13 (two days before the Boston Marathon) at 1 p.m. at the Town Common.

Photo of the Day: The Massachusetts Music Educators Association All-State Concert Festival was held this past Saturday at Boston Symphony Hall. It featured the top high school musicians from around the state performing band, orchestral, jazz and choral works. Hopkinton High School students Aritro Chatterjee (orchestra), Aman Kumar (orchestra) and Aditya Machiraju (band) were among those who auditioned and were selected to perform.
