Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
Shortly after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Steve Snow grabbed some leftover pipe and a round float and created a makeshift flagpole on a rock pile at Lake Maspenock. He raised an American flag that has stood ever since.
Leading up to the Oct. 11 Boston Marathon, the Independent will profile local charity runners. This week we highlight Jamie Weeden, who is running to raise funds for the Hopkinton Women’s Club.
Each week, the Independent highlights an animal available for adoption at Baypath Humane Society in Hopkinton. This week’s adoptable animal is Chocolate, an 8-year-old “social butterfly.”
“It’s true happiness,” Pamela Banson says of her work. “It lifts up my spirit and inspires me to do more, to do better.” Banson opened Kumon Math and Reading Center of Hopkinton 19 years ago and has been a Kumon Method instructor since 2001.
