Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
Life in the time of COVID-19 has presented extraordinary challenges. The creative minds of students who participated in the Hopkinvents Inventathon developed potential solutions to some of these issues during a 24-hour event that showcased problem-solving through invention.
The DPW had a busy few days, repairing two water main breaks on Thursday and then a third — on Teresa Road — on Sunday. Water and Sewer Department manager Eric Carty indicated cold and frost are the most likely causes, as the old cast-iron mains are more susceptible to breaks in the winter.
The town’s latest COVID-19 update shows 19 active cases in town and includes information about the vaccination process. A streamlined distribution plan announced by the state last week is designed to prioritize equity and high-capacity throughput vaccination.
Town meetings tonight include the Board of Health (5:30) and the Zoning Advisory Committee (7).
