Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.
Annual Town Meeting is tonight, starting at 7 p.m., at the Hopkinton Middle School auditorium, and there are 48 articles on the warrant. Aside from the budget, there are a number of topics that should spark some debate.
At Thursday’s Upper Charles Trails Committee meeting, Assistant Town Manager Elaine Lazarus presented a report from town counsel regarding questions about the legality of two citizens’ petitions on the warrant for Town Meeting, indicating passage of the articles would not force the town to disband the committee.
The three candidates for the two available seats on the School Committee appeared in a debate Friday to illustrate their different perspectives as voters prepare to vote in the Annual Town Election on Monday, May 15.
On Thursday, the School Committee heard the results of the Metrowest Adolescent Health Survey, which asked students their feelings about support, connectiveness and social media use.
As part of the Main Street Corridor Project this week, the eastbound detour from Pleasant Street to Maple Street to Grove Street will be used from Monday to Friday. The eastbound detour from Grove Street to Maple Street to Hayden Rowe Street may be used as needed.
Hopkinton 101, organized by the Hopkinton Public Library, is a community event where residents can learn about municipal departments as well as local nonprofit and volunteer opportunities.
