by | Sep 18, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

In the wake of a surprise 4-1 vote to delay the promotion request for two Hopkinton Police Department officers to the rank of sergeant at the Select Board meeting on Sept. 5, one Select Board member explained his rationale for his decision to the Hopkinton Independent.

The Open Space Preservation Commission at its meeting Thursday night approved the donation of open space to the town at a Whisper Way subdivision after a contentious Planning Board meeting showed that the process should have taken place before building permits were issued.

As part of the Main Street Corridor Project this week, crews will form and pour sidewalks, and place loam and seeding in various areas. Regarding the peeling light poles, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), which is overseeing the project, indicated the poles will be replaced but did not give a timeline.

The Hopkinton High School boys soccer team improved to 4-0 with Thursday’s 3-0 victory over visiting Holliston, and we have photos.

Our latest Business Profile highlights Flooring America Design Center, which serves a wide range of MetroWest clientele, including homeowners and business owners.

Town meetings tonight include the Commission on Disability (7), Zoning Advisory Committee (7) and Board of Library Trustees (7).
