by | Apr 11, 2024 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Robert Bell, educational programmer for architectural firm Perkins Eastman, said the design elements of the new elementary school project have an “overarching theme that is calming and natural.” His presentation on Tuesday to the Elementary School Building Committee focused on the colors, concepts and curriculum ties the new Grade 2-4 school will feature, thanks to input from educators over several workshops in February and March.

Our latest Boston Marathon features highlight the duo team of Kevin Clancy and Chad Larivee (supporting Spaulding Rehabilitation), Nick Brown (Hopkinton Girls Youth Lacrosse) and Jeffrey Kreafle (South Asian Circle of Hopkinton). And our Marathon Notebook leads off with the story of how the J.C. Parmenter septic services company has become the longstanding home to the video crews in town to shoot the race.

This week’s Police Log includes reports of vandalism inside the former Center School, a West Main Street lamp pole on fire and a missing car.

The latest Schools Notebook leads off with the Hopkinton Middle School Drama Club presenting “James and the Giant Peach” on April 26 and 27.

The Hopkinton Organizing for Prevention (HOP) Coalition is sponsoring a virtual presentation of ‘Screenagers: Under The Influence” on Thursday, April 25, from 7-8:30 p.m.

Town meetings tonight include the Hopkinton Youth Commission (7).

Photo of the Day: March was Patrol Outing Month for Hopkinton BSA Troop 4. “It’s a chance for the separate patrols to have fun, do some bonding and potentially work on awards and advancements. Outing activities may include camping overnights, day hikes, trash cleanups, a meal out or whatever good ideas the kids come up with!” explained Troop 4’s Ray Fryer. Enjoying lunch at Orale Mexican Restaurant on Main Street were (from left) Anish Nadella, Thomas Donahue, Ashwath Sridhar, Levi Schuster and Ronan Thapa.
