Hopkinton Today: Thursday, May 16

by | May 16, 2024 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

A small fire broke out at Bill’s Pizzeria, a popular downtown restaurant, early Wednesday morning, causing an hour-long road closure of Main Street.

Smart thinking by patrons at the Hopkinton Country Club on May 4 and the teamwork displayed between them and the Hopkinton Police Department led to the arrest of a driver who sped through the club’s fairways.

The Parks & Recreation Commission tackled a hefty agenda Tuesday night, with student parking at the EMC Park parking lot and the potential for charging fees generating the most discussion.

On Tuesday, the Elementary School Building Committee heard about changes to the stormwater plan for the Charleswood School project. An investigation determined that expansion of the stormwater system is necessary “by a good amount.”

This week’s Police Log includes reports of vandalism at the former Center School, a truck hitting a wall on Winter Street and a dog bite.

Town meetings tonight include the School Committee (6:45) and Open Space Preservation Commission (7).
