by | Nov 11, 2021 | Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

During the public forum portion of Tuesday’s Select Board meeting, Select Board Member Brendan Tedstone called attention to the passing of longtime resident Joe Pyne, who died Nov. 2 at the age of 81. “He’s just what Hopkinton used to be, and hopefully what it will be moving forward,” Tedstone said.

Following an executive session Tuesday night, the School Committee voted unanimously to approve a memorandum of agreement with the Hopkinton Teachers Association regarding the new mask-optional policy for vaccinated individuals at Hopkinton High School.

Hopkinton’s annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Senior Center, which will open an hour before the event. The annual Veterans Dinner, sponsored by the Hopkinton Veterans Celebration Committee, will be held at the Woodville Rod and Gun Club at 5:30.

Owen Schnur scored a pair of goals and the Hopkinton High School boys soccer team, seeded 14th in the Division 2 state tournament, upset third-seeded Holliston, 3-1, in the second round on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hopkinton High School Drama Ensemble is back offering its latest musical production, “All Together Now!” Nov. 12-14. The actors will be performing songs from 15 Broadway musical hits. It’s the first performance by the ensemble since the pandemic started.

There has been a lot of publicity in the last few years regarding the threats to our ecosystem due to a decline in the bee population. Hopkinton Girl Scouts want to make sure that message is front and center. And it is, at the trailhead on Hopkinton’s Center Trail.
