Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
Yesterday’s Town Election had a respectable turnout, and the Democrats ruled the day, with Amy Ritterbusch beating incumbent John Coutinho for a seat on the Select Board, and Joe Markey and Lya Batlle-Rafferty earning spots on the School Committee.
Hopkinton High School is moving forward with plans to have a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 on Sunday, Aug. 2, at the HHS football field. Principal Evan Bishop explained the precautions that will be in place for the event, including required masks and social distancing.
The Hopkinton Community Summer Band announced that this summer’s program, which included a planned concert on the Town Common in July, has been canceled after discussions with the Board of Health. Hopkinton Parks & Recreation, which organizes the Sunday summer concerts, said all concerts in July have been canceled. A decision has yet to be made regarding August.
