Hopkinton Today: Tuesday, March 22

by | Mar 22, 2022 | Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

The greater Hopkinton community will have a chance to fight a “silent killer” of women with a celebration of life — a fashion show — on April 12 and 13. The fun evening, which includes dinner and a cash bar, will benefit research in detecting and curing ovarian cancer.

Hopkinton High School senior Kate Powers ended her indoor track and field season by setting a state record at the USA Track & Field Youth Nationals in New York. Competing in the weight throw, Powers recorded a distance of 52 feet, 7.75 inches.

Relatives, friends and neighbors of John Birri recognized his 90th birthday Sunday with a drive-by celebration at his West Elm Street home.

A public reception was held Friday for a free exhibition at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts that showcases the Boston Globe’s coverage of the Boston Marathon over the years.

This week’s edition of Senior Snippets includes details on a Dementia Friends information session, a judicial outreach program, a musical baseball show and an art appreciation presentation.

Town meetings tonight include the Board of Assessors (5:30) and Historical Commission (7).
