Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.
The Hopkinton-based charity Live4Evan held an Octoberfest fundraiser on Sunday at Start Line Brewing, and we have photos.
The next monthly Veterans Breakfast is this Friday and is sponsored by an anonymous donor. Organizers will recall several past military events that happened on this date — such as the assassination of nearly 100 Americans on Wake Island in 1943, and President Gerald Ford enacting a law allowing females to be admitted to service academies in 1975 — and entertain sports fans with baseball events from Oct. 7.
The Hopkinton Women’s Club will host its next monthly meeting Monday, Oct. 17, at the Hopkinton Public Library. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m., with a social gathering and then a business meeting. That evening at the library (and also on Zoom), from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Dr. Jayne Knott of JFK Environmental Services will talk about climate change.
Town meetings tonight include the Board of Assessors (5:30).
Photo of the Day: Tracy McKnerney, Eric Magers and Nancy Capparelli prepare to participate in Sunday’s Jimmy Fund Walk, which embarked from the Boston Marathon start line next to the Town Common.
