Business Profile: Hopkinton’s newest active adult community, The Trails in Hopkinton

by | Nov 8, 2018 | Business

Modern, carefree living meets style and convenience at The Trails in Hopkinton, the community’s newest active adult living environment nestled alongside 18 miles of protected, open nature trails and adjacent to Hopkinton State Park.

The Trails consists of 180 homes being custom built by Heritage Properties, a Sudbury-based firm founded in 1992. Each of the three available building configurations (single family, duplex and triplex) is inspired by a modern farmhouse architectural design while maintaining the traditional features of a New England home.

“Unlike most builders, we offer customers the opportunity to customize their homes with a number of personal choice options,” stated Vin Gately, president and general manager of Heritage Properties. “We pride ourselves in working closely with prospective owners and are as involved in decision-making as the owners want us to be.”

Constructed with quality materials and fine craftsmanship, these luxurious townhouses are set on a 1,000-plus-acre farm site once owned by Weston Nurseries. Owners may choose from five different floorplans that vary in size from 2,100 square feet to 2,400 square feet, with the option to finish additional space in the basement. There is plenty of natural lighting and scenic views from atop this locale, the highest point in town.

Some of the extravagant features included in all two-bedroom homes are nine-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, master bedroom suite (on first floor of most floor plans), gas fireplace, 2.5 bathrooms, two-car garage (with driveway space for two more cars), patio or deck, Kohler plumbing fixtures, stainless steel appliances and kitchen island, as well as attractive cabinetry selections for both kitchen and bathrooms.

The beautifully designed walking paths throughout the development include “pocket parks” that naturally encourage residents to stop and enjoy the scenery. Residents will find a bocce court, dog park and 30,000-square-foot onsite community garden sponsored by Weston Nurseries. The Clubhouse functions as a community gathering space and features an inviting gas fireplace in a meeting room perfect for a private party or community-wide event. There are also a fitness room and a post office in the clubhouse.

“Building partnerships within the community is a cornerstone for Heritage Properties,” added Gately. “Including a community garden as an amenity was a must for us, as we wanted to tie in to the land’s rich history.”

These amenities encourage time spent out of doors and community building, with proximity to shopping and dining in and throughout Hopkinton.

The new community is perfect for empty nesters, single professionals or anyone seeking the simple enjoyments of retirement living.

This project is already in construction. First foundations have gone in and reservations are being taken now. First units will be ready for move in during the Spring of 2019.
