Jeffrey Dieter

Jeffrey Dieter, age 56, of Winnetka, Illinois, and a former Hopkinton resident, passed away on April 30, 2026. He was born in Stoneham on May 6, 1969.

Jeffrey graduated from New Trier High School and received his bachelor’s degree in journalism/communications from Emerson College in Boston. He went on to build a career in journalism, working for New England Cable News and WHDH 7 News.

Jeff will be remembered as a gentle father and a selfless, charismatic and loving man with a lifelong passion for boating at his favorite place, Cape Cod. He had a love for building things and took pride in fixing anything that was broken. Jeff was talented, creative and innovative, with a gift for bringing ideas to life.

He was predeceased by his brother, Russell Dieter. He is survived by his two children, Morgan Dieter and Nicholas Dieter; his parents, Richard and Susan Dieter (Hynes); and many extended family members and friends.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at Saint Pius X in South Yarmouth. All are invited to attend and celebrate Jeffrey’s life. The wake and burial will be held privately for family and close friends.

In remembrance of Jeffrey, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
