Library closed Friday, Saturday due to ‘excessive heat’

by | Aug 2, 2024 | Featured: News, News

The Hopkinton Public Library announced that the library will be closed as of noon Friday and will remain closed on Saturday.

No one was available for comment. But a phone message stated that the closure was due to “excessive heat in the building.” A post on X noted that the library decided to close “for the health and safety of our patrons and staff due to high heat and humidity inside the building.” The library’s website stated that the children’s room had been closed on Thursday, with limited services available on the first floor, including borrowing items and using toys for free play.

Hopkinton is enduring a heatwave, with temperatures soaring into the lower 90s by early Friday afternoon.

The announcement stated that the building expects to be open on Monday, Aug. 5, during regular hours.
