SCHEDULE UPDATES
From Jan. 17-19, the library will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the Board of Library Trustees will meet in the Ellsworth Room.

ALL AGES PROGRAMS

Secrets and Second Chances with Liz Moore
Wednesday, Jan. 28, 7-8 p.m.
In this online program, Liz Moore will discuss her latest work, “The God of the Woods,” an instant New York Times bestseller and one of NPR’s 2024 Books We Love highlights.

Coffee House: The Music of Stephen Sondheim
Thursday, Jan. 29, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Attendees will experience the genius of one of Broadway’s most revered composers in A Place for Us: The Music of Stephen Sondheim. Pianist and vocalist Jay Daniels pays tribute to Sondheim’s extraordinary legacy with heartfelt interpretations of songs from “Gypsy,” “A Little Night Music” and more. The concert also features a special sing-along portion, inviting the audience to join in beloved selections from “West Side Story.”

Midterms Study Hall
Tuesdays, Jan. 13 and 20, 2-7:45 p.m.
Wednesdays, Jan. 14 and 21, 2-7:45 p.m.
Thursdays, Jan. 15 and 22, 2-7:45 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 16, 2-4:45 p.m.
The Betty Strong Room will be open for extra study space for Hopkinton High School midterms. There will be free refreshments for students, as well as visits from Hula the therapy dog.

Music and Movement
Wednesday, Jan. 14, 10:30-11:15 a.m.
In this interactive program, the library invites children ages 0-5 to sing and groove each month with a different children’s performer. This month’s performance is from the returning BenAnna Band.

ADULT PROGRAMS

The Creative and Compassionate Art of Seeing Others Deeply
Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2-3 p.m.
In this online discussion, prominent cultural writer and bestselling author David Brooks will talk about his book, “How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply,” in which he helps us pose essential questions: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them? What kind of conversations should you have? What parts of a person’s story should you pay attention to? Driven by his trademark sense of curiosity and determination to grow as a person, Brooks draws from the fields of psychology and neuroscience and the worlds of theater, philosophy, history and education to present a welcoming, hopeful, integrated approach to human connection.
