by | Mar 31, 2020 |

Linda (Bortz) Snape-Newberry of Hopkinton passed away on March 29 at Milford Regional Medical Center. Born April 18, 1945, in Jefferson, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Carolyn (Rich) and Dean Bortz. She was the wife of 23 years of Wayne Newberry of Hopkinton.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Alexander Alfred Snape, his wife Denise, and their two children, Oliver and Zoe of Kittery Point, Maine; her sister, Carol Sweem and her husband, Don, of West Des Moines, Iowa; nephew Steve Bortz of Superior, Colorado; nephew Jeff Bortz and his wife, Kristine, of Alamo, California; niece Cindi Miller and her husband, Jim, of West Des Moines, Iowa; nephew Steve Sweem and his wife, Sue, of Chicago; niece Lori Stevenson and her husband, Chad, of West Des Moines, Iowa; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Robert Wayne Bortz of Jefferson, Iowa, who passed away on April 28, 1988.

Linda had a good heart and wished that more people would read “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” one of her favorite books. All that is left is the love that she shared with us. She also hoped that everyone would take good care of the ones they love.

Concerns about the COVID-19 virus prohibit a wake or funeral. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home.

Donations can be made the American Cancer Society at cancer.org or 800-227-2345, or to the Shriners at LoveShriners.com or 883-330-0071.
