Lois White

Lois Alfreda White, 95, of Hopkinton passed away Aug. 4.  Born in Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Wardle) and Ephraim Nickerson. She was married for 63 years to the late Frederick S. White.

Alfreda was a proud member of the Nickerson Family Association of Cape Cod. She was a former member of the Garden Club and Couples Club in Hopkinton. She was a Bruins fan and enjoyed knitting, playing cards and cooking and was an avid reader. In her later years, she enjoyed time spent at the Hopkinton Senior Center.

Alfreda is survived by her children, Sheila Tiberio and husband Ronald of Natick; Cheryl Malloy and husband Dan of DeBary, Florida; Richard White of Honolulu; and Diane Sandler and husband Mark of Framingham. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Rebecca and husband Brandon Randall; David and wife Alyssa Sandler; Stephanie and husband Andrew Thorpe; and Ronald and wife Karen Tiberio; four great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Trevor and Tyler Tiberio, and Christopher Thorpe; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara Nickerson and Betty Nickerson. She is predeceased by siblings Mildred Nickerson, Marjorie Nickerson, Ethelwyn Rowell, Betsy Reddish, Harold Nickerson and Richard Nickerson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Tapestry, Beaumont and Hospice at Whitney Place in Natick for their kind and compassionate care.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 5-8 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Thursday Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Hopkinton. The family encourages mask wearing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Hopkinton Senior Center, 28 Mayhew St., Hopkinton, MA 01748.
