Main Street establishment Bittersweet closes doors for good

by | Apr 10, 2021 | Featured: News, News

Bittersweet Co. has closed its doors for good, according to owner C.J. Dunne. The Main Street cafe/bakery/tapas bar welcomed patrons for the final time Friday.

Dunne said revenues dropped 90 percent due to the COVID-19 pandemic and he could no longer keep the business afloat.

“It’s reached a tipping point and I can’t sustain the losses,” Dunne told the MetroWest Daily News. “Sometimes, you have to know when to quit.”

Bittersweet first opened in 2014. Dunne purchased the business in 2016 and expanded on its offerings.

Dunne, whose apartment at 17 Main St., across the street from Bittersweet, was destroyed by fire last year, said he plans to leave town.
