Leading up to the Oct. 11 Boston Marathon, the Independent will profile local charity runners. This issue we highlight Morgan Woodman, who is running to raise funds for Friends of Hopkinton.
“It is my greatest pleasure to give back to the community that has given so much to me,” Woodman writes. “I am beyond excited and extremely grateful for the opportunity to run the 125th Boston Marathon for the Friends of Hopkinton, supporting them in their goal to provide community activities that encourage town spirit, enthusiasm and pride.”
Woodman, who has worked as a research laboratory manager since graduating from Roger Williams University in 2019 with a B.S. in biology and chemistry, is seeking to raise $5,000 via her GoFundMe page (gofundme.com/f/morgans-marathon-mission). She also is documenting her “adventure” through her Instagram page at healthyhitsthespot101.
“Being a part of a community can make us feel as though we are a part of something greater than ourselves,” Woodman writes. “It provides us with opportunities to connect with people, to reach for our goals, and better ourselves and others. Please consider donating to this wonderful organization and supporting me as I strive to complete a lifelong dream of running the Boston Marathon for, and from, my hometown. Every contribution has a direct impact on strengthening and uniting families and the benevolent community in which they are a part of.”
