Mary Abbott

Mary “Sister” Catherine Abbott, 82, of Northborough and formerly of Framingham, passed away on Oct. 25. Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late Margaret “Peg” (Doyle) and James “Del” Ryan. She was the wife of 55 years to Raymond Abbott.

Mary was an avid reader and took pleasure in taking cruises. Most importantly, she was passionate about her family.

Mary is survived by her children, Michael Abbott and wife Jodi of Framingham, and Raymond Abbott and wife Tanya of Hopkinton; her siblings, Margaret “Niki” Link and husband Bernard of Northborough, Francis “Buddy” Ryan and wife Geraldine of Falmouth, and Martin Ryan of Waltham. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Madison and William; her sister-in-law, Joan Ryan; as well as many nieces, nephews and her grand-dog, Sydney. She is predeceased by her siblings, James “Chub,” Judith and John Ryan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 1, from 10-11 a.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe Street. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
