Michael Clooney

Michael Coleman Clooney, 81, died at his home in Hopkinton on Friday July 28, 2023. He was the husband of the late Katherine N. (Sullivan) Clooney, who died in 2012. He was born March 13, 1942 in Malden MA to Faith Miltimore Clooney, and was raised in New England.

After high school he entered the service, serving in the U.S. Army as a mechanic and later as a platoon leader in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant after his service, and soon began working as a diesel mechanic for Caterpillar, work he continued until his retirement in 2009.

He enjoyed sailing, reading, writing, music and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Nora F. Clooney of Cambridge, MA, his son David Clooney of Florence, MA, daughter-in-law Amber Clooney, and grandson Gabriel Clooney.  In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by his brother, the Reverend David F. Clooney.

Memorial calling hours will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, Hopkinton.
