One of the team’s “most disciplined hitters,” according to coach Shannon Allbery-Yerardi, Valis led the team with 10 walks and struck out just twice through late April. The coach also lauded Valis’ quickness and intelligence on the basepaths, leading to multiple extra-base hits and eight stolen bases. “Elena is one of the most versatile athletes we have on the team this year and is a true utility player,” Allbery-Yerardi added. “She plays outfield, infield and catches for us. Anything we ask her to do in practice or a game, she will do it to the best of her ability and without hesitation. She is a true student of the game and wants to learn and improve every day.”

Move In Style, sponsored by Custom Home Realty’s Laura Wauters, is a weekly Hopkinton Independent feature. Each week during the school year, we will highlight a different Hopkinton High School athlete, selected after consultation with HHS coaches.
