The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced a new Interstate 90 on-ramp from Interstate 495 will open next month.
MassDOT announced that the new I-90 eastbound on-ramp (Exit 58) from I-495 southbound is scheduled to open July 9. Temporary lane closures on I-495 northbound and southbound between Exits 58 and 59 will be in place starting 8 p.m. on July 8 and will remain in place until 5 a.m. on July 9 as the traffic shift is completed.
In the event of inclement weather, the temporary closures will take place the evening of July 10, with the ramp opening the following morning.
During the temporary lane closure on July 8, crews also will be removing the traffic split on I-495 southbound. Traffic previously split around the construction area is set to return to its normal alignment.
Appropriate signage and law enforcement details will be in place to guide drivers through the new off-ramp system. Drivers should anticipate delays and exercise caution while traveling through work zones.
