Parks & Rec hosts Skateboard/BMX Jam this Sunday

by | Nov 6, 2023 | Sports

Skate jam

The Hopkinton Parks & Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Friends of Hopkinton Skate Park and the Hopkinton Freedom Team, will host several free open skateboard/BMX jams leading up to the construction/completion of the town’s new skate park at EMC Park in 2024. The first event is scheduled for Sunday (Nov. 12) from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Hopkinton Middle School outdoor basketball courts.

The skate jams are opportunities for local skate park enthusiasts to ride together and build community prior to construction and opening of the new park. Representatives from the Friends of Hopkinton Skate Park will be on hand to answer questions from interested community members about the Skate Park, skateboarding/BMX and the culture. These representatives are past or current Hopkinton residents who have a love for skateboarding/BMX and want to pass this on to both youth and adults. They will be on hand to answer questions, demonstrate different obstacles, review some basic riding skills and discuss the history and culture of skateboarding.

Skateboard and BMX enthusiasts of all abilities and skill levels are encouraged to participate in this community-based open riding event.

For more information, visit the Parks & Rec website.
