Porter’s next court date set for Aug. 2

by | May 25, 2023 | News

Former Hopkinton Deputy Police Chief John “Jay” Porter had a scheduling conference Wednesday, and his next court date has been set for Aug. 2, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

The Aug. 2 appearance will be a filing of motions hearing, the DA’s office shared, in which representatives for the DA and the defense can ask the court to address an issue prior to trial.

Porter previously entered a plea of not guilty to three counts of child rape during a May 9 hearing at Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn.

The alleged incidents occurred nearly two decades ago, in September 2004 and June 2005, while Porter served as a school resource officer in Hopkinton and the alleged victim was a 15-year-old sophomore.
