Skate park ribbon cutting postponed to next Saturday

by | Mar 28, 2025 |

Inclement weather has postponed tomorrow’s ribbon cutting ceremony for the reopening of the Hank Fredette Skate Park at EMC Park.

Parks & Recreation Director Jon Lewitus informed residents in a notice on Friday that due to the weather forecast, the ribbon cutting would be pushed back to Saturday, April 5.

The event still will feature music, food trucks and giveaways, as well as a skate jam and lessons from professional Boston skaters. It will kick off at 11:30 a.m. and continue until 2:30 p.m.

The ribbon cutting is a culmination of efforts to restore the skate park that began in 2019. Renovations began last summer and the project was completed in December.

More information about the ribbon cutting is available on the Parks & Rec website.
