Suspect arrested after brief standoff

by | Nov 22, 2018 | Police & Fire

On Nov. 7 at approximately 8 a.m., Hopkinton officers were investigating a stolen vehicle at 19 Hayden Rowe St. While speaking with a male suspect who was visiting the address, the suspect became combative and attempted to flee. The suspect was able to escape into the residence where he barricaded himself inside. Two other parties who live at the address exited the house without incident.

The house was surrounded with the assistance of Southborough and Ashland Police officers. Hayden Rowe was closed to traffic and the neighboring homes were evacuated. The schools were placed in a “shelter in place” status to ensure the students remained inside the buildings. Resources were requested from the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Swat Team. Officers on scene were able to negotiate with the subject and at 9:07 a.m. the subject surrendered to officers without further incident.

Ryan Conroy, 31, of Worcester was taken into custody by Hopkinton Police officers. He was charged with two counts of assault and battery on a Police Officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest. One officer was injured during the altercation and he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A female resident of the address was arrested on unrelated warrants. Theresa Mascroft, 35, of Hopkinton was arrested on a default warrant out of Westfield District Court for failure to appear on motor vehicle charges. She was also arrested on a default warrant out of Waltham District Court for drug possession charges. She was transported to Framingham District Court to face arraignment on these warrants. The investigation into the stolen car was ongoing.
