Translation tool added to town website

by | Dec 20, 2021 | News

Hopkinton Director of Information Technology Josh Grossetti recently announced the launch of a new language translation tool on the town’s website (hopkintonma.gov).

Translations are offered in more than 80 languages, including Arabic, Chinese (simplified), Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and more. These are the languages for which Hopkinton Public Schools provides translation/interpretation throughout households in town.

“We are pleased to offer this new translation service as it allows us to be more inclusive for non-English-speaking community members, and it ensures that all of our residents have equitable access to town information shared on our site,” Grossetti stated via a town press release.

The town noted that it is using a third-party tool, Google Translate, and, as such, the town does not control the quality or accuracy of translated content. Community members can report incorrect translation by hovering over the text containing the error and clicking “Contribute a better translation” in the text box that appears.

Anyone with questions regarding the new translation service is encouraged to contact Grossetti at 508-497-9756 or jgrossetti@hopkintonma.gov.
