The town’s Water-Sewer Department reported a water main break on Wilson Street, near the intersection with East Main Street. Crews were working to repair it this morning.

The department cautioned that the issue likely will cause discoloration throughout the center, eastern and possibly southern portions of town. Individuals might need to run cold water after the break is repaired in order to clear the lines.

UPDATE, 2:30 p.m.: The Water-Sewer Department reports that the break has been repaired and water restored. Due to the severity of the break, there may be pockets of discoloration that move throughout the entire system when pumps turn on and off for several days. Residents are advised to check their water before using it and might need to flush the cold water faucet to help clear the lines.
