Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
Hopkinton High School senior Nick Brown, who bounced back from an injury to earn victories in each of his four dual meets, was named MVP of the Tri-Valley League pod in which the Hillers competed. The Bates College-bound distance runner also finished the season with a top-20 finish at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association meet.
Hopkinton students involved in asynchronous learning will be required to spend one hour of virtual contact time per day with a teacher starting Jan. 19, superintendent Carol Cavanaugh said last week. This hour could include a variety of options, including morning meeting check-ins, instructional read-alongs and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) lessons.
The town announced Friday that a pre-construction meeting for the Main Street Corridor Project was held Thursday, bring together representatives from town departments, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), contractor A.F. Amorello & Sons, Inc., public outreach firm City Point Partners, town engineering consultant VHB, and utility companies.
Town meetings tonight include the Parks & Recreation Commission (5:30), School Committee (7), Zoning Advisory Committee (7) and Appropriation Committee (7).
