Hopkinton COVID-19 update for Jan. 25: Town has 66 active cases

Hopkinton Town Hall reopened to the public as of Aug. 10. Appointments are required ​due to the state’s COVID-19 limits on building occupancy​: ​Click here for more information​. All town departments are open for business and many transactions can be completed online. We are available via phone and email to assist during regular business hours. A full Town Directory can be ​found here​. A box at the front door of Town Hall may be used to drop off correspondence, applications, etc., and they may also be mailed or emailed.

As of Jan. 23, Hopkinton’s Health Department is reporting 618 total ​confirmed COVID-19 cases; 66 of those cases are active, with 535 recoveries and 17 deaths. You can see historical tracking and updates on ​Hopkinton’s Community Impact Dashboard, which is updated frequently.

Lifted Restrictions — NEW UPDATE

MANDATORY EARLY CLOSING ORDER
The mandatory early closing order, which since early November has required certain businesses to close by 9:30 p.m. each night, has been rescinded effective Monday, Jan. 25, at 5 a.m.
Effective with the Jan. 25 rescinding of the order, the following businesses listed below may operate past 9:30 p.m.:

• Restaurants
• Arcades and other indoor and outdoor recreation (Phase 3, Step 1 only)
• Indoor and outdoor events
• Movie theaters
• Outdoor theaters
• Drive-in movie theaters
• Youth and adult amateur sports activities
• Golf facilities
• Recreational boating and boating businesses (e.g. charter boats)
• Outdoor recreational experiences (includes haunted houses)
• Casinos and horse tracks/simulcast facilities
• Driving and flight schools
• Zoos, botanical gardens, wildlife reserves, nature centers
• Close contact personal services (e.g. hair and nail salons)
• Museums/cultural and historical facilities/guided tours
• Gyms/fitness centers and health clubs
• Indoor and outdoor pools

Effective with the rescinding of the early closing order, liquor stores and other retail establishments that sell alcohol will be permitted to sell alcohol past 9:30 p.m.; and adult use cannabis retailers will also be permitted to sell cannabis after 9:30 p.m. Gatherings and events will also be permitted to continue past 9:30 p.m. All gatherings and events will remain subject to current capacity limits of 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors. Phase 3, Step 2 businesses must remain fully closed.

STAY AT HOME ADVISORY
The DPH stay at home advisory for the hours of 10 p.m.-5 a.m. was rescinded effective Monday, Jan. 25, at 5 a.m.

SECTOR-SPECIFIC CAPACITY RESTRICTIONS AND GATHERING LIMITS
Capacity limits: Under the current restrictions that are being extended today, most customer-facing businesses operating in Massachusetts remain subject to a 25 percent capacity limit.

Gatherings limit: The current gathering limits in place since Dec. 26 are also being extended to Monday, Feb. 8. Indoor gatherings and events will remain limited to 10 people. Outdoor gatherings and events will remain limited to 25 people outside. The gatherings limit applies to private homes, event venues and public spaces.

Library Completely Closed Wednesday, January 27 — NEW UPDATE
Due to planned work on the library’s gas line, the library building will be completely closed on Wednesday, Jan. 27. No curbside services will be provided on that day. Library staff will be available by email and online chat from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Library Services Are Curbside/Remote Only:
Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in Hopkinton and regionally, library services are available on a curbside/remote basis only (no walk-in service) until at least Friday, Jan. 29.

The library’s curbside/remote service hours are:

10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays
10 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesdays/Thursdays

Library staff will be available to assist you by phone, e-mail and online chat during these hours.

Please schedule curbside pickup times in advance​ by calling the library at 508-497-9777 or using the “Schedule Curbside Pickup” link under the “eServices” menu on the right-hand side of the library website, hopkintonlibrary.org​.
