Sode runner-up in engineering competition

Hopkinton’s Nishanth Sode, a senior at the University of Connecticut, was a member of a team that earned the second-place prize in the Management and Engineering for Manufacturing (MEM) Senior Design competition in late April. Sode’s team worked with Sikorsky representatives to create a system to analyze digital outputs of an ultra-low-temperature freezer.

Senior Design at UConn serves as a capstone course for all engineering students. In the MEM program, seniors design projects that incorporate engineering challenges as well as business concepts to provide a thorough and professional experience for students and a product for businesses. Teams of three or four students are assigned a project and are contracted to provide a specific outcome for a company.
