HHS principal: Keefe Tech student from Hopkinton has died

by | Dec 23, 2021 | Education, Featured: Education

Hopkinton High School Principal Evan Bishop emailed the HHS community Thursday to announce that a Keefe Tech student from Hopkinton has died.

Bishop indicated that his staff was made aware of the student’s death by the Keefe Tech administration Thursday morning. He did not share the name of the student “out of respect for the family.”

Keefe Tech is a regional vocational high school in Framingham that serves a few communities, including Hopkinton.

“The Crisis Response Team convened this morning to put supports in place for students and staff,” Bishop wrote. “The loss of a student has a ripple effect on the school community. Every effort will be made to support our students as we deal with the grief and loss resulting from this tragedy.”

At Keefe Tech, Superintendent Jonathan Evans contacted students and families to make them aware of resources that will be in place during winter break and after classes resume in January.

“Keefe Tech is heartbroken over the recent death of one of our students. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to his family and friends and the entire community,” Evans wrote. “This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students. Students were made aware of this loss through classroom notifications, and counselors were on hand during the day to support students in need.”

More information about grief counseling and support can be obtained from Hopkinton Youth and Family Services by visiting its web page at the town website, calling 508-497-9781 or emailing dalcott@hopkintonma.gov or csouza@hopkintonma.gov.
