by | Dec 31, 2021 | Featured: News, News

Hopkinton Police announced Friday night that they have charged a local barber in connection with a stabbing that occurred earlier in the day at a Main Street shop.

The Hopkinton Emergency Call Center received two 911 calls at about 5 p.m. about a stabbing inside Hometown Barbershop at 28 Main Street.

According to a press release from the Hopkinton Police Department, officers arrived and found a pregnant woman, also an employee, inside the business had suffered multiple stab wounds. First responders immediately administered aid to the woman, who was taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Harry David Martinez, a 40-year-old from Framingham, surrendered without incident. He suffered cuts in the attack, police stated, and was taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Martinez was charged with attempted murder, assault and battery on a pregnant person and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Framingham District Court on Monday.

The incident remains under investigation by local and state police.

“As a department we are committed to connecting the victim with our partners in trauma support so that she has access to counseling and understanding in the aftermath of this attack,” Chief Joseph Bennett said.
